Burden of gold and silver, a grateful heart, a tongue that remembers Allah, and a righteous wife
Hadith 1121
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَبِيرِ بْنُ مُعَافَى بْنِ عِمْرَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُرَادِيُّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : "مَّا نزلت وَالَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ سورة التوبة آية 34 ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : تَبًّا لِلذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَأَيُّ الْمَالِ نَكْنِزُ ؟ ، قَالَ : قَلْبًا شَاكِرًا ، وَلِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا ، وَزَوْجَةً صَالِحَةً "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُرَادِيِّ ، إِلا شَرِيكٌ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عَبْدُ الْكَبِيرِ بْنُ الْمُعَافَى
Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When this verse was revealed: “And those who hoard gold and silver” (: al-Tawbah: 34), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Destruction is for gold and silver.” The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah! Then what wealth should we accumulate? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “(1) A grateful heart, (2) a tongue that remembers Allah, (3) and a righteous wife.”
