Description of some verses about the Day of Judgment
Hadith 1085
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : "وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ سورة البروج آية 3 ، قَالَ : الشَّاهِدُ جَدِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمَشْهُودُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، ثُمَّ تَلا هَذِهِ الآيَةَ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا سورة الأحزاب آية 45 ، وَتَلا ذَلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَجْمُوعٌ لَهُ النَّاسُ وَذَلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَشْهُودٌ سورة هود آية 103 "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، إِلا ابْنُهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Sayyiduna Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says: In Allah Almighty’s statement: “By the witness and the witnessed” (: al-Buruj: 3), the “witness” refers to my grandfather, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the “witnessed” refers to the Day of Resurrection. Then he recited this verse: “Indeed, We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner” (: al-Ahzab: 45). Then he recited this verse: “That is a Day for which the people will be assembled, and that is a Day [which will be] witnessed” (: Hud: 103).
