Hadith 1056
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْبَزَّارُ أَبُو حَامِدٍ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْقَرَوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "كُفْرٌ بامْرِئٍ ادِّعَاءٌ إِلَى نَسَبٍ لا يُعْرَفُ ، وَجَحْدُهُ وَإِنْ دَقَّ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، إِلا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ
Sayyiduna Amr bin Shu'aib from his father from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is also an act of disbelief for a person to claim or deny a lineage about which he has no certain knowledge, even if this claim is not made explicitly."
