Hadith 1048
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، بِمِصْرَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأُمَوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ ، عَنْ مُعَلَّى الْكِنْدِيِّ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَاشِرَ عَشَرَةٍ ، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، "مَنْ أَكْيَسُ النَّاسِ وَأَحْزَمُ النَّاسِ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : أَكْثَرَهُمْ ذِكْرًا لِلْمَوْتِ ، وَأَشَدُّهُمُ اسْتِعْدَادًا لِلْمَوْتِ قَبْلَ نُزُولِ الْمَوْتِ ، أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الأَكْيَاسُ ذَهَبُوا بِشَرَفِ الدُّنْيَا وَكَرَامَةِ الآخِرَةِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلِ ، إِلا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَلا رَوَاهُ عَنْ مُعَلَّى الْكِنْدِيِّ ، إِلا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while I was the tenth among ten Muslims. Then a man from the Ansar stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Who is the most intelligent of all people? And who is the wisest? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "The one who remembers death the most, and prepares for it before it comes. Those are the wise ones who have taken the honor and nobility of this world and the Hereafter."
