Virtue of good treatment towards the husband
Hadith 1041
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَامَانَ الْجُنْدِيسَابُورِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى السِّينَانِيُّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ، بَرِيدَ ، بْنِ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهَا صَبِيَّانِ لَهَا تُرْضِعُهُمَا ، فَسَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا يُعْطِيهَا ، فَلَمْ يَجِدْ شَيْئًا يُعْطِيهَا حَتَّى أَصَابَ ثَلاثَ تَمَرَاتٍ ، فَأَعْطَاهَا ، فَأَعْطَتْ هَذَا تَمْرَةً وَهَذَا تَمْرَةً ، وَأَمْسَكَتْ تَمْرَةً فَبَكَى أَحَدُ الصَّبِيَّيْنِ ، فَشَقَّتِ التَّمْرَةَ شَقَّتَيْنِ ، فَأَعْطَتْ هَذَا نِصْفًا وَهَذَا نِصْفًا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : حَامِلاتٌ وَالِدَاتٌ مُرْضِعَاتٌ رَحِيمَاتٌ بِأَوْلادِهِنَّ ، لَوْلا مَا يَأْتِينَ إِلَى أَزْوَاجِهِنَّ دَخَلَتْ مُصَلِّيَاتُهُنَّ الْجَنَّةَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، إِلا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى السِّينَانِيُّ
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and with her were two children whom she was nursing. She asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for something, but he found nothing to give her except three dates, which he gave to her. She gave one date to each child and kept the third for herself. Then one of the children cried, so she broke the third date in half and gave half to each child. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Mothers who carry their children, nurse them, and show mercy to their offspring—if it were not for the way they deal with their husbands, their prayers would admit them to Paradise.”
