Hadith 1028
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الأَعْلَمُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلامٍ الْجُمَحِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، وَحُمَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، "أَيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ ؟ ، قَالَ : مَنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ ، وَحَسُنَ عَمَلُهُ ، قَالَ : وَأَيُّ النَّاسِ شَرٌّ ، قَالَ : مَنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ وَسَاءَ عَمَلُهُ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ يُونُسَ ، إِلا حَمَّادٌ
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Which person is the best?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "The one whose life is long and whose deeds are good." He asked, "And who is bad?" He replied: "The one whose life is long and whose deeds are bad."
