Warning for the rich due to the poor on the Day of Judgment
Hadith 1013
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَحْشٍ الأَسَدِيُّ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا جُنَادَةُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الْمُرِّيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ أُخْتِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "وَيْلٌ لِلأَغْنِيَاءِ مِنَ الْفُقَرَاءِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، يَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا ، ظَلَمُونَا حُقُوقَنَا الَّتِي فَرَضْتَ لَنَا عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَيَقُولُ : وَعِزَّتِي وَجَلالِي لأُدْنِيَنَّكُمْ وَلأُبَاعِدَنَّهُمْ ، لأُبْعِدَنَّهُمْ ، ثُمَّ تَلا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَالَّذِينَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَعْلُومٌ { 24 } لِلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ { 25 } سورة المعارج آية 24-25 "، لا يُرْوَى عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ جُنَادَةُ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to the rich people because of the poor on the Day of Resurrection. They will say: 'O our Lord! They wronged us regarding our rights which were obligatory upon them for us.' So Allah, the Exalted, will say: 'By My honor and majesty! I will bring you close to Me and distance them from Me.'" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited: " (In their wealth there is a known right) for the beggar and the deprived."
