Hadith 985
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الصَّفَّارُ الرَّمْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي الزَّرْقَاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شِبْلُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : " مَا نَدِمْتُ عَلَى شَيْءٍ مَا نَدِمْتُ عَلَى أَنِّي لَمْ أَسْأَلْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " عَنِ الرِّيحِ ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَقُلْتُ : قَدْ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْهَا ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، الرِّيحُ مِمَّ هِيَ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : مِنْ رُوحِ اللَّهِ يَبْعَثُهَا بِالرَّحْمَةِ ، وَيَبْعَثُهَا بِالْعَذَابِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ شِبْلٍ ، إِلا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي الزَّرْقَاءِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ ابْنُهُ
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, says: I have never regretted anything as much as I regretted not asking the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about the wind. So Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: I asked him, peace and blessings be upon him, about it. I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the wind made of? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "From the fragrance of Allah, which Allah sends with mercy and also with punishment."
