Hadith 978
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Abu ‘Aish Zayd bin Samit, a man from Banu Zurayq, and he was sitting and reciting this supplication: “«اللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ يَا مَنَّانُ يَا بَدِيعَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ»” “O Allah! I ask You because all praise is for You alone, there is no deity worthy of worship except You, You are the Most Beneficent, the Originator and Creator of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of Majesty, Honor, and Bounty.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then said to a group of his companions: “Do you know with what words this man supplicated?” They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “He has supplicated to Allah with His Greatest Name, which, if He is called upon by it, He responds, and if He is asked by it, He gives.”
