Mu'jam al-Saghir

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made this supplication on the evening of Arafah: "«اللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّكَ تَرَىٰ مَكَانِي وَتَسْمَعُ كَلَامِي وَتَعْلَمُ سِرِّي وَعَلَانِيَتِي لَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْكَ شَيْءٌ مِنْ أَمْرِي أَنَا الْبَائِسُ الْفَقِيرُ الْمُسْتَغِيثُ الْمُسْتَجِيرُ الْوَجِلُ الْمُشْفِقُ الْمُقِرُّ الْمُعْتَرِفُ بِذَنْبِهِ أَسْأَلُكَ مَسْأَلَةَ الْمِسْكِينِ وَأَبْتَهِلُ إِلَيْكَ ابْتِهَالَ الْمُذْنِبِ الذَّلِيلِ وَأَدْعُوكَ دُعَاءَ الْخَائِفِ الضَّرِيرِ مَنْ خَضَعَتْ لَكَ رَقَبَتُهُ وَذَلَّ جَسَدُهُ وَرَغِمَ أَنْفُهُ اللّٰهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي بِدُعَائِكَ شَقِيًّا وَكُنْ بِي رَءُوفًا رَحِيمًا يَا خَيْرَ الْمَسْئُولِينَ وَيَا خَيْرَ الْمُعْطِينَ» "O Allah! You know my being, and You hear my speech, You know my outward and hidden state. Nothing about my affair is hidden from You, and I am afflicted, poor, seeking help, seeking refuge, fearful, afraid, and admitting my sins. I ask You like a poor person asks, and I cry out to You like a sinful, humiliated person, and I call upon You like a fearful, blind person whose neck has become humble, whose body has become lowly, and whose nose is covered in dust. O Allah! Do not make me wretched by rejecting my call, and be compassionate and merciful to me. O You who are better than all those who are asked, and O You who are better than all those who give."
