Description of Allah's justice and mercy
Hadith 916
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْحَذَّاءُ الرَّقِّيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَعْوَرُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "مَنْ أَصَابَ ذَنْبًا فِي الدُّنْيَا ، فَعُوقِبَ بِهِ ، فَاللَّهُ جَلَّ ذِكْرُهُ أَعْدَلُ مِنْ أَنْ يُثَنِّي عُقُوبَتَهُ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ فِي الآخِرَةِ ، وَمَنْ أَصَابَ ذَنْبًا فِي الدُّنْيَا ، فَسَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَفَا عَنْهُ ، فَاللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَجْوَدُ مِنْ أَنْ يَعُودَ فِي شَيْءٍ قَدْ عَفَا عَنْهُ وَسَتَرَهُ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، إِلا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever commits a sin in this world and is punished for it here, then Allah, the Most Just, will not punish His servant again in the Hereafter. And whoever commits a sin and Allah conceals it for him in this world, covers it up and forgives it, then Allah is too generous to punish again for a sin that has already been forgiven and concealed.”
