Description of the virtue of Ali ibn Abi Talib
Hadith 904
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الأَشْعَرِيُّ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُجَاشِعُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، بِهَمْدَانَ ، سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَثَلاثِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ سَوَادَةَ الرَّازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِلالُ بْنُ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ الْوَزَّانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمِ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَوْحَى إِلَيَّ فِي عَلِيٍّ ثَلاثَةَ أَشْيَاءَ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي ، أَنَّهُ سَيِّدُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، وَإِمَامُ الْمُتَّقِينَ ، وَقَائِدُ الْغُرِّ الْمُحَجَّلِينَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ هِلالٍ ، إِلا عِيسَى ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُجَاشِعٌ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Akim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the night of Isra, Allah the Exalted revealed to me three things regarding Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): (1) He is the leader of all the believers, (2) He is the Imam of the God-fearing, (3) And he will be the leader of the people with white hands, feet, and faces."
