Description of the excellent qualities of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)
Hadith 888
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ الْعَطَّارُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمِ بْنِ الْبَرِيدِ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : "مَا ضَرَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ نِسَائِهِ قَطُّ ، وَلا ضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ شَيْئًا قَطُّ إِلا أَنْ يُجَاهِدَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا نِيلَ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ قَطُّ فَانْتَقَمَ مِنْ صَاحِبِهِ إِلا أَنْ تُنْتَهَكَ مَحَارِمُ اللَّهِ فَيَنْتَقِمُ لَهُ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، إِلا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never struck any woman among his wives, nor did he ever strike anything with his hand except when striving in the way of Allah. And whatever harm the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) received from any companion, he never took revenge for it. But when the sanctities of Allah were violated and dishonored, he would take revenge for Allah's sake.
