Hadith 865
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُصْعَبٍ الأَشْنَانِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الأَسَدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ ، عَنْ كَثِيرٍ النَّوَّاءِ ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الآخَرِ : كِتَابُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ ، وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي ، وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَى الْحَوْضِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ كَثِيرٍ النَّوَّاءِ ، إِلا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am leaving among you two things, one greater than the other: one is the Book of Allah, which is Allah’s long rope stretched from the sky to the earth, and the other is my family, my household. These two will never separate until they meet me at the Pond."
