Description of the large number of the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him) entering Paradise
Hadith 812
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الْبُوشِيُّ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَعَدَنِي أَنْ يَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَرْبَعُ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : زِدْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَهَكَذَا وَجَمَعَ كَفَّيْهِ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : حَسْبُكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : دَعْنِي يَا عُمَرُ ، وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنَا الْجَنَّةَ كُلَّنَا ؟ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى لَوْ شَاءَ أَدْخَلَ خَلْقَهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِكَفٍّ وَاحِدَةٍ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : صَدَقَ عُمَرُ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، إِلا مَعْمَرٌ . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has promised me that He will admit four hundred thousand people from my Ummah into Paradise." So Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Increase it, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And as many," and he joined his palms together. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Abu Bakr! That is enough. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Umar! Leave it, if Allah Almighty admits all of us into Paradise, what burden is it upon you? Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If Allah Almighty wills, He can admit all His creation into Paradise with just one palm. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Umar has spoken the truth." May Allah be pleased with them all.
