Explanation of punishment upon the Ummah near the Hour
Hadith 767
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْمُسَيَّبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : ذُكِرَ فِي زَمَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَسْفٌ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، "يُخْسَفُ بِأَرْضٍ فِيهَا الْمُسْلِمُونَ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، إِذَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِهَا الْخُبُثَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، إِلا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ الْمُسَيَّبِيُّ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: During the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the sinking of the earth towards the east was mentioned, so some people said: Will the land in which Muslims live also sink? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! When the majority there becomes involved in sin and immorality."
Hadith 768
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَمَّالُ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ الْفَقِيهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ يُونُسَ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا فَرْقَدٌ السَّبَخِيُّ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "لَيَبِيتَنَّ قَوْمٌ مِنْ هَذِهِ الأُمَّةِ عَلَى طَعَامٍ وَشَرَابٍ وَلَهْوٍ ، وَيُصْبِحُوا قَدْ مُسِخُوا قِرَدَةً وَخَنَازِيرَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، إِلا فَرْقَدٌ ، وَلا عَنْ فَرْقَدٍ ، إِلا جَعْفَرٌ ، وَلا عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ ، إِلا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ يُونُسَ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Some people from this Ummah will spend the night in eating, drinking, and amusement. When morning comes, their faces will be like those of monkeys and pigs."
