Explanation of people being gathered in three groups on the Day of Resurrection
Hadith 759
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ خَازِمٍ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جُمَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ عَامِرِ بْنِ وَاثِلَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَرِيحَةَ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ أُسَيْدٍ الْغِفَارِيِّ ، أَنَّ أَبَا ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيَّ ، وَقَفَ عَلَى بَنِي غِفَارٍ ، فَقَالَ : يَا بَنِي غِفَارٍ ، إِنَّ الصَّادِقَ الْمَصْدُوقَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَنِي ، "أَنَّ النَّاسَ يُحْشَرُونَ ثَلاثَةَ أَفْوَاجٍ : فَوْجًا طَاعِمِينَ كَاسِينَ ، وَفَوْجًا يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ ، وَفَوْجًا تَسْحَبُهُمُ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَتَحْشُرُهُمُ النَّارُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ ، قَالَ : قَدْ عَرَفْنَا هَؤُلاءِ وَهَؤُلاءِ ، فَمَا بَالُ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : تَنْزِلُ الآفَةُ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ فَلا يَبْقَى ظَهْرٌ حَتَّى إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيُعْطِي أَحَدَكُمُ الْحَدِيقَةَ الْمُتَّخِذَةَ لَهُ بِشَارِفٍ ذَاتِ الْقَتَبِ فَلا يَجِدُهَا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ ، إِلا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، وَقَدْ رَوَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفُضَيْلِ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Truthful and Trusted (peace and blessings be upon him) told me: "On the Day of Gathering, people will be assembled in three groups. One group will be those who are eating and dressed, the second group will be those who are walking and running, and the third group will be those whom the angels will be dragging and the fire will be gathering them from behind." He said: We have recognized them, but what is the sign of those who will be walking and running? So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Calamity will come upon the riding animals so that there will be no riding animal left, to the extent that a man will give a garden in exchange for an old riding animal with a saddle, but even then he will not get it."
