Explanation of honoring and respecting a Muslim brother
Hadith 706
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلاءُ ، الْمُعَلَّى ، بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَلَى سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيِّ فَأَلْقَى لَهُ وِسَادَةً ، فَقَالَ : مَا هَذِهِ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ سَلْمَانُ الْفَارِسِيُّ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : "مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهِ أَخُوهُ الْمُسْلِمُ فَيُلْقِي لَهُ وِسَادَةً إِكْرَامًا لَهُ وَإِعْظَامًا لَهُ ، إِلا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ "، لا يُرْوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him), so he placed a cushion for Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: O Abu Abdullah! What is this? He replied: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When a believer's Muslim brother comes to him and he places a cushion for him as an honor and respect, Allah Almighty forgives his sins."
