Hadith 692
حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ الْمُقْرِئُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنِ الأَجْلَحِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَّةَ أُتِيَ بِأَبِي قُحَافَةَ وَرَأْسُهُ وَلِحْيَتُهُ كَأَنَّهَا ثَغَامَةٌ ، فَقَالَ : غَيِّرُوا الشَّيْبَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنِ الأَجْلَحِ ، إِلا شَرِيكٌ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Makkah, Abu Quhafah was brought to him, and his head and beard were like the herb "thaghamah" (white grass). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Change the color of old age and avoid black dye."
