Explanation of greeting with Salam in a gathering
Hadith 682
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الطُّوسِيُّ بأَصْبَهَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، وَعَمِّي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَجْلِسَ فَلْيُسَلِّمْ ، فَإِذَا قَامَ فَلْيُسَلِّمْ ، فَلَيْسَتِ الأُولَى بِأَحَقَّ مِنَ الثَّانِيَةِ "، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ خَلَفٌ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you comes to a gathering, he should greet them with salam, and when he gets up to leave, he should (again) greet them with salam. The first salam is not more deserving than the second salam."
