Hadith 665
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقَطَّانُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : " قُدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسَبْيٍ ، فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ السَّبْيِ تَسْعَى إِذَا وَجَدَتْ صَبِيًّا فِي السَّبْيِ فَأَخَذَتْهُ ، فَأَلْصَقَتْهُ بِبَطْنِهَا وَأَرْضَعَتْهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةَ طَارِحَةً وَلَدَهَا فِي النَّارِ ؟ ، قُلْنَا : لا وَاللَّهِ ، وَهِيَ تَقْدِرُ عَلَى أَنْ لا تَطْرَحَهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَرْحَمُ بِعِبَادِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةِ بِوَلَدِهَا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، إِلا أَبُو غَسَّانُ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنْ عُمَرَ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Some captives were brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Among the captives was a woman running about; whenever she saw a child among the captives, she would pick him up, hold him to her belly, and start nursing him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What do you think, can this woman throw her son into the fire?" We said: If she has the power not to throw him, she will not throw him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is more merciful to His servants than this woman is to her child."
