Explanation of taking the pledge from migrant women who embraced Islam
Hadith 582
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْعَامِرِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ضِرَارُ بْنُ صُرَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَمْتَحِنُ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِهَذِهِ الآيَةِ يَأَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ سورة الممتحنة آية 12 إِلَى آخِرِ الآيَةِ كُلِّهَا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، إِلا الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ ضِرَارٌ
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to test those women who came to him after believing and migrating, and he would test them with this verse: “O Prophet! When believing women come to you to give you the pledge that they will not associate anything with Allah, nor will they steal, nor will they commit adultery, nor will they kill their children, nor will they bring any falsehood which they have invented between their hands and feet, nor will they disobey you in what is right, then accept their pledge and ask Allah’s forgiveness for them. Surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Al-Mumtahina: 12).
