Description of the humility of Sayyiduna Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 553
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْخَشَّابُ الرَّقِّيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ جُنَادٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْخَفَّافُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَوْذَبٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ ، عَنْ رَوْحِ بْنِ زِنْبَاعٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ ، وَهُوَ أَمِيرٌ عَلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ ، وَهُوَ يُنَقِّي لِفَرَسِهِ شَعِيرًا ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : " أَيُّهَا الأَمِيرُ ، أَمَا كَانَ لَكَ مَنْ يَكْفِيكَ هَذَا ؟ ، فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : مَنْ نَقَّى لِفَرَسٍ شَعِيرًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ بِهِ حَتَّى يُعَلِّقَهُ عَلَيْهِ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِكُلِّ شَعِيرَةٍ حَسَنَةً "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ ، إِلا ابْنُ شَوْذَبٍ ، وَلا عَنِ ابْنِ شَوْذَبٍ ، إِلا عَطَاءُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ جُنَادٍ
Ruh bin Zinba’ says: I went to Sayyiduna Tamim Dari (may Allah be pleased with him), at that time he was the governor of Bayt al-Maqdis and he was removing the husks from barley and straw for his horse. I said: O Amir! Could you not find someone to do this work for you? He replied: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Whoever cleans barley for his horse in the way of Allah, then prepares it and hangs it with the horse, Allah Almighty writes for him a good deed for every grain of barley.”
