Hadith 426
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite the talbiyah as follows: “Labbayka Allahumma labbayk, labbayka la sharika laka labbayk, innal-hamda wan-ni‘mata laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak.” “Here I am, O Allah! Here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Surely all praise and blessings are for You, and the kingdom (too), You have no partner.”
Hadith 427
Sayyiduna Amr bin Ma’dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We have seen you from a time not long ago, and when we used to perform Hajj, we would say: “Labbayka ta’zeeman ilayka ‘udhran” “Hadhi Zubaidun qad atatka qasran” “Yaqta’na khabatan wa jibalan wa ‘aran” “Qad ja’alu al-andada khallu sifran” — “We are present in reverence and apologize to You, this is Zubaid and it comes to You by force. It traverses lowlands and hard mountains.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw us standing in Batn Muhassir and we were afraid that the jinn might snatch us away. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Move away from Batn ‘Urnah, for here are your brothers, and when they become Muslims—” and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us this talbiyah: “Labbayka Allahumma labbayk, labbayka la sharika laka labbayk, innal hamda wan-ni’mata laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak.”
