Sayyiduna Abu Hadard Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A Jew had a debt of four dirhams upon me. He kept pressing me, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to go to Khaybar. So I asked him for respite until I returned, thinking perhaps we might obtain some spoils of war and I would give them to him. He brought me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give him his due." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this twice. I said: O Messenger of Allah! You intend to go to Khaybar, so perhaps Allah the Exalted will grant us some spoils from there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give him his due." And when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said something three times, it could not be rejected. I had a waistcloth on my body and a turban on my head. When I left from there, I said: Buy this waistcloth from me. So the Jew took the waistcloth from me in exchange for the dirhams I owed him. So I took off my turban and tied it around my waist, and gave him the waistcloth. A woman passed by me and gave me her shawl, so I wore it.
