Hadith 345
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَهْرَيَارَ الرَّقِّيُّ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُرَيْقُ بْنُ الْوَرْدِ الرَّقِّيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُ هَرَاسَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمَرْءُ مَا يَأْتِيهِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ مَا أَكَلَ أُكْلَةً ، وَلا شَرِبَ شَرْبَةً إِلا وَهُوَ يَبْكِي وَيَضْرِبُ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، إِلا ابْنُ هَرَاسَةَ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ زُرَيْقٌ
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a person knew what circumstances he would face after death, he would never eat a single morsel, nor drink a single sip of water, except that he would keep weeping and beating his chest."
