The virtue of a supplication to be recited after every prayer
Hadith 290
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الأَهْوَازِيُّ الْخَطِيبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ أَبُو يُوسُفَ الْقَلُوسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الذُّهْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ فَرْقَدٍ الْقَزَّازُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُخْتَارِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "مَنْ قَالَ دُبُرَ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ : أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ، وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ ، غُفِرَ لَهُ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ فَرَّ مِنَ الزَّحْفِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، إِلا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، وَلا عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، إِلا عَمْرُو بْنُ فَرْقَدٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever recites this supplication after every prayer: ﴿Astaghfirullaha alladhi la ilaha illa huwa al-hayyul-qayyum, wa atubu ilayh﴾ ‘I seek forgiveness from Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I turn to Him in repentance,’ his sins will be forgiven even if he had fled from the battlefield.”
