The chapter on praying on a mount
Hadith 276
حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْحَلَبِيُّ بِحَلَبَ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْحَافِي ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ يُصَلِّي فِي السَّفَرِ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ ، وَيُومِئُ إِيمَاءً ، وَيَجْعَلُ سُجُودَهُ أَخْفَضَ مِنْ رُكُوعِهِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، إِلا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ بِشْرٌ
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform prayer while traveling on his mount, and he would gesture with his hand, and he would make his prostration a little lower than his bowing.
