Prohibition of stepping over people's necks in the mosque
Hadith 238
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ الْعَمِّيُّ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ الْعِجْلِيُّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَتَخَطَّى رِقَابَ النَّاسِ حَتَّى جَلَسَ قَرِيبًا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلاتَهُ ، قَالَ : مَا مَنَعَكَ يَا فُلانُ أَنْ تُجَمِّعَ ؟ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَدْ حَرَصْتُ أَنْ أَضَعَ نَفْسِي بِالْمَكَانِ الَّذِي تَرَى قَالَ : قَدْ رَأَيْتُكَ تَخَطَّى رِقَابَ النَّاسِ وَتُؤْذِيهُمْ ، مَنْ آذَى مُسْلِمًا فَقَدْ آذَانِي ، وَمَنْ آذَانِي فَقَدْ آذَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، إِلا الْقَاسِمُ الْعِجْلِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، وَلا عَنْهُ إِلا مُوسَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ سَعِيدٌ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, says: Once, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was delivering a sermon when a man came and, stepping over people's necks, sat near the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, completed the prayer, he said: "O so-and-so! What prevented you from performing Jumu'ah?" He replied: "O Messenger of Allah! My eagerness and desire brought me close to you, where you can see me." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I saw you coming while stepping over people's necks and causing them harm, and whoever harms a Muslim, it is as if he has harmed me, and whoever has harmed me, it is as if he has harmed Allah, the Exalted."
