Warning against passing in front of a praying person
Hadith 232
حَدَّثَنَا حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، أَخُو رُسْتَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ سَلْمُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَوْهَبٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُتْبَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمَارُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الرَّجُلِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي مَاذَا عَلَيْهِ لَكَانَ أَنْ يَقُومَ حَوْلا خَيْرًا لَهُ مِنَ الْخُطْوَةِ الَّتِي خَطَاهَا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، إِلا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the person passing in front of a praying man knew how much sin he incurs, he would stand for a year rather than take a single step forward, and that would be better for him."
