The chapter on establishing humility and submissiveness in prayer
Hadith 218
حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ الأَهْوَازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحَرِيشِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "أَسْرَقُ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَسْرِقُ صَلاتَهُ ، قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَكَيْفَ يَسْرِقُ صَلاتَهُ ؟ ، قَالَ : لا يُتِمُّ رُكُوعَهَا ، وَلا سُجُودَهَا ، وَأَبْخَلُ النَّاسِ مَنْ بَخِلَ بِالسَّلامِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ عَوْفٍ ، إِلا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحَرِيشِ ، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mufaddal (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The greatest thief among people is the one who steals from his prayer." It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! How does he steal from his prayer? He replied: "He does not complete its bowing (ruku') and prostration (sujud), and the most miserly person is the one who is miserly with greetings of peace (salam)."
