The chapter on keeping the arms away in prostration
Hadith 211
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَجَدَ جَافَى حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ إِبِطَيْهِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، إِلا مَعْمَرٌ ، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prostration, he would keep his arms apart to such an extent that the whiteness of his armpits became visible.
