Hadith 134
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ دُحَيْمٍ الْكُوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الهِيَاجِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ صُبَيْحٍ الْيَشْكُرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ سَعْدِ ، عَنْ عُوَيْمِ بْنِ سَاعِدَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لأَهْلِ قُبَاءَ : "إِنِّي أَسْمَعُ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَحْسَنَ الثَّنَاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الطُّهُورِ فَمَا هَذِهِ الطُّهُورُ ؟ ، قَالُوا : وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا نَعْلَمُ شَيْئًا إِلا أَنْ جِيرَانَنَا مِنَ الْيَهُودِ يَغْسِلُونَ أَدْبَارَهُمْ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ فَغَسَلْنَا كَمَا غَسَلُوا "، لا يُرْوَى عَنْ عُوَيْمٍ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ
Sayyiduna Uwaym bin Sa'idah Ansari رضي الله عنه reports: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to the people of Quba: "I hear from Allah that He praises you greatly regarding purity, so what is the reason for this purity?" They replied: O Messenger of Allah! We do not know anything except that our neighbors, the Jews, wash their backs after relieving themselves, so we also wash like them.
