Statement about being ignorant and from the people of Hell
Hadith 71
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَافِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : "مَنْ قَالَ : إِنِّي عَالِمٌ فَهُوَ جَاهِلٌ ، وَمَنْ قَالَ : إِنِّي جَاهِلٌ فَهُوَ جَاهِلٌ ، وَمَنْ قَالَ : إِنِّي فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ ، وَمَنْ قَالَ : إِنِّي فِي النَّارِ فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ "
Yahya bin Abi Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, says: Whoever says, "I am a scholar," then he is ignorant; and whoever says, "I am ignorant," he is also ignorant; and whoever says, "I will enter Paradise," then he will enter Hell; and whoever says, "I will enter Hell," then he will also enter Hell.
