Hadith 65
حَدَّثَنَا مُنْتَصِرُ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ مُنْتَصِرٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ابْنُ أَخِي تَمِيمِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَصِرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الأَزْرَقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي الشَّيْءَ أَنْ أَكُونَ حُمَمَةً أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ : ذَاكَ صَرِيحُ الإِيمَانِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، إِلا إِسْحَاقُ الأَزْرَقُ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I find such thoughts in my heart that I consider it better to become charcoal than to utter them." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is clear faith."
