Hadith 58
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ الطَّبَرِيُّ الْفَقِيهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مَعْنٍ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذْ أَتَاهُ يَهُودِيٌّ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ، "مَا الرُّوحُ ؟ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي سورة الإسراء آية 85 "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مَعْنٍ ، إِلا إِسْحَاقُ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a Jew came to him and said: O Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is the soul? Then Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "And they ask you concerning the soul. Say: The soul is from the command of my Lord."
