Statement about loving Banu Abdul Muttalib
Hadith 38
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَشْعَثِ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ الْعِجْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَصْرَمُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ وَاصِلٍ الضَّبِّيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : أَتَى الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، " إِنِّي أَتَيْتُ قَوْمًا يَتَحَدَّثُونَ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَوْنِي سَكَتُوا ، وَمَا ذَاكَ إِلا أَنَّهُمْ يَسْتَثْقِلُونِي ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَدْ فَعَلُوهَا ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، لا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُهُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّكُمْ بِحُبِّي ، أَيَرْجُونَ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِشَفَاعَتِي وَلا يَرْجُونَ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ "، لا يُرْوَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَبُو الأَشْعَثِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib, may Allah be pleased with him, came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: I went to some people who were talking. When they saw me, they became silent; they did this only because they considered me burdensome and heavy. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "They did so for this reason. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, none of them can be a believer until he loves you because of his love for me. Do these people hope to enter Paradise through my intercession, and have no hope from the Banu Abdul Muttalib?"
