Statement about what is written in destiny
Hadith 31
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مِقْلاصِ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ الْكِنْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْعُرْسَ بْنَ عَمِيرَةَ الْكِنْدِيَّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : "إِنَّ الْمَرْءَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ الْبُرْهَةَ مِنْ دَهْرِهِ ، ثُمَّ تُعْرَضُ لَهُ الْجَادَّةُ مِنْ جَوَادِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَيَعْمَلُ بِهَا حَتَّى يَمُوتَ عَلَيْهَا وَذَلِكَ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُ ، وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ الْبُرْهَةَ مِنْ دَهْرِهِ ، ثُمَّ تُعْرَضُ لَهُ الْجَادَّةُ مِنْ جَوَادِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ ، فَيَعْمَلُ بِهَا حَتَّى يَمُوتَ وَذَلِكَ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، إِلا يُونُسُ ، وَلا عَنْ يُونُسَ ، إِلا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ ، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنِ الْعُرْسِ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Sayyiduna ‘Urs bin ‘Amirah Kindi رضي الله عنه reports (he was among the Companions) that a man continues to do the deeds of the people of Hellfire, then a path from among the paths of the people of Paradise opens up for him, so he begins to do deeds like theirs until he dies upon those deeds, and this is what was destined for him. And there is a man who spends some time doing deeds like the people of Paradise, then the path of the people of Hellfire becomes apparent to him, so he begins to do such deeds until he dies upon those deeds, and these are the deeds that were written for him.
