Statement about wiping over leather socks
Hadith 99
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الأَعْرَابِيِّ بِمَكَّةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي خَبَّابٍ الْكَلْبِيِّ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ مُصَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالِ الْمُرَادِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ "أَأَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ، وَلا يُنْزَعُ مِنْ غَائِطٍ ، وَلا بَوْلٍ ، وَلا نَوْمٍ ، وَيَوْمًا لِلْمُقِيمِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ ، إِلا أَبُو خَبَّابٍ ، وَلا عَنْ أَبِي خَبَّابٍ ، إِلا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ
Sayyiduna Safwan bin Assal Muradi, may Allah be pleased with him, says: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: May I wipe over the leather socks, O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Yes! The traveler is permitted for three days not to remove the leather socks due to urination, defecation, or sleep, and the resident is permitted for one day."
