Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and then supplicated with such a supplication as the people had never heard before, and sought refuge from Allah in such a way as the people had never heard before. So some people said: O Messenger of Allah! If we supplicate like this and seek refuge in this way, how will that be? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should say: «اللّٰهُمَّإِنَّانَسْأَلُكَبِمَاسَأَلَكَمُحَمَّدٌعَبْدُكَوَرَسُولُكَوَنَسْتَعِيذُمِمَّااسْتَعَاذَمِنْهُمُحَمَّدٌعَبْدُكَوَرَسُولُكَ» 'O Allah! I ask You for that which Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Your servant and Messenger, asked You for, and O Allah! I seek refuge in You from that which Your servant and Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sought refuge from.'"

´Abu Umamah narrated:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) supplicated with many supplications of which we did not preserve a thing. We said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you supplicated with many supplications of which we did not preserve a thing.’ He (ﷺ) said: ‘Should I not direct you to what will include all of that? That you say: O Allah, we ask You from the good of what Your Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) asked You for, and we seek refuge in You from the evil of that which Your Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) sought refuge in You from, and You are the one from Whom aid is sought, and it is for You to fulfill, and there is no might or power except by Allah (Allāhumma innā nas’aluka min khairi mā sa’alaka minhu nabiyyuka Muḥammad, ṣallallāhu `alaihi wa sallam, wa na`ūdhu bika min sharri masta`ādha minhu nabiyyuka Muḥammad, ṣallallāhu `alaihi wa sallam, wa antal-musta`ānu wa `alaikal-balāgh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh).’”

1: O Allah! We ask You for the good (khayr) which Your Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) asked You for, and we seek refuge with You from the evil (sharr) from which Your Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) sought refuge. You alone are the Helper, and in Your hand alone is the recognition of (good and evil), and there is no power to avoid sin nor strength to perform worship except with Allah’s support.
