Description of the supplication when going to bed
Hadith 963
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَحْمَوَيْهِ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ الأَهْوَازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الأَهْوَازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ تَمَامٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ "إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ ، قَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّرِّ وَلُوعًا ، وَمِنَ الْجُوعِ ضَجِيعًا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، إِلا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مَعْمَرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to his bed, he would recite this supplication: "«اللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّرِّ وَلُوعًا وَمِنَ الْجُوعِ ضَجِيعًا» "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil that sets one free, and from hunger that remains with me until I sleep."
