Hadith 953

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الضَّرِبُ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ وَرْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ إِلْيَاسٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، "إِنِّي أَسْلَمْتُ ، فَمَا أَدْعُو بِهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : قُلِ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَهْدِيكَ لأَرْشَدِ أَمْرِي ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، إِلا عَدِيُّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have become a Muslim, so which supplication should I make?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Supplicate like this: «اللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَهْدِيكَ لِأَرْشَدِ أَمْرِي وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي» 'O Allah! I ask You for guidance towards my very best deeds, and I seek refuge with You from the evil of my own self.'"
