حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ جُمُعَةَ اللاذِقِيُّ ، وَأَبُو زُرْعَةَ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَدَنِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْعُمَرِيُّ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "إِذَا رَأَى أَحَدُكُمْ مُبْتَلًى فَلْيَقُلِ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي فَضَّلَنِي عَلَيْكَ ، وَعَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ تَفْضِيلا ، فَإِذَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ شَكَرَ تِلْكَ النِّعْمَةَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، إِلا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُطَرِّفٌ
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you sees someone afflicted with a trial, he should say: '«الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِي فَضَّلَنِي عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ تَفْضِيلًا»' 'All praise is due to Allah who has favored me over you and over much of His creation.'"
