Description of interceding for a thief
Hadith 918
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ شَبَّةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو غَزِيَّةَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْمَدَنِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : لَقِيَ الزُّبَيْرُ سَارِقًا ، فَشَفَعَ فِيهِ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : حَتَّى نُبَلِّغَهُ الإِمَامَ ، فَقَالَ : "إِذَا بَلَغَ الإِمَامَ ، فَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ الشَّافِعَ وَالْمُشَفِّعَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "، لا يُرْوَى عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَبُو غَزِيَّةَ
Sayyiduna Urwah says: Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) met a thief and interceded for him. He was told: This intercession is valid until we reach the Imam. He said: When (the case) reaches the Imam, then Allah curses the one who intercedes and the one who accepts the intercession, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said.
