It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Al-Hamq Al-Khuzai (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever considers someone trustworthy regarding his blood, but then that person kills him, then even if the slain was a disbeliever, I am free and dissociated from his killer."

´It was narrated that Rifa'ah bin Shaddad Al-Qitbani said:` “Were it not for a word that I heard from 'Amr bin Hamiq Khuza'i, I would have separated the head of Al-Mukhtar from his body. I heard him saying: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'If a man trusts someone with his life then he kills him, he will carry a banner of treachery on the day of Resurrection.'”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Granting someone protection and then killing them is a very grave sin.
➋ Breaking a covenant is such a major crime that, on the Day of Resurrection, a flag will be planted on the body of such a criminal, by which everyone will know that this person is a covenant-breaker. In this way, he will suffer severe disgrace.
➌ Mukhtar bin Ubayd al-Thaqafi, after the martyrdom of Husayn (radi Allahu anhu), raised the slogan of avenging him and thus gained the sympathies of the masses. After taking revenge on the killers of Husayn (radi Allahu anhu), he felt that he had gained the love and sympathy of the people, so he claimed prophethood and misled the people. Mus'ab bin Zubayr (radi Allahu anhu) killed him and thus ended this tribulation.
