Description of the blessing of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) hand
Hadith 884
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ أَبِي عَامِرٍ السِّجِلِّينِيُّ ، بِقَرْيَةِ سِجِلِّينَ مِنْ كُورَةِ عَسْقَلانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِهَابٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُرَشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ مَوْلَى السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ السَّائِبَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ لِحْيَتُهُ بَيْضَاءُ وَرَأْسُهُ أَسْوَدُ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا مَوْلايَ ، مَا لِرَأْسِكَ لا يَبْيَضُّ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : لا يَبْيَضُّ رَأْسِي أَبَدًا ، وَذَلِكَ أَنْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ "مَضَى وَأَنَا غُلامٌ أَلْعَبُ مَعَ الْغِلْمَانِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَي الْغِلْمَانِ وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ ، فَرَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامَ مِنْ بَيْنِ الْغِلْمَانِ ، فَدَعَانِي ، فَقَالَ لِي : مَا اسْمُكَ ؟ ، قُلْتُ : السَّائِبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ابْنِ أُخْتِ النَّمِرِ ، فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَيَّ ، وَقَالَ : بَارَكَ اللَّهُ فِيكَ ، فَلا يَبْيَضُّ مَوْضِعُ يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبَدًا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، إِلا عِكْرِمَةُ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ النَّضْرُ ، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنِ السَّائِبِ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Ata, the servant of Sayyiduna Saib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him), says: I saw the beard of Saib bin Yazid had turned white while his head had not turned white, so I said to him: O my master! What is the reason that your head has not turned white? He said: It will never turn white, because once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by while I was playing with the children, and he (peace be upon him) greeted the children with salam, and among the children, I replied to the salam. So he (peace be upon him) called me and said: "What is your name?" I said: Saib bin Yazid bin Ukht al-Nimr. So he (peace be upon him) placed his hand on my head and said: "May Allah bless you." So the place where the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) touched my head never turns white.
