Description of the blessed appearance of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)
Hadith 861
حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ الأَعْرَجُ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخُشُكُ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السُّلَمِيُّ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرِ بْنِ كِدَامٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، رَبْعَةً مِنَ الْقَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِالطَّوِيلِ الْبَائِنِ وَلا بِالْقَصِيرِ ، وَكَانَ أَزْهَرَ لَيْسَ بِالأَبْيَضِ الأَمْهَقِ وَلا بِالآدَمَ ، وَكَانَ رَجِلَ الشَّعْرِ ، لَيْسَ بِالْجَعْدِ الْقَطَطِ وَلا بِالسَّبْطِ ، بُعِثَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَرْبَعِينَ ، فَأَقَامَ بِمَكَّةَ عَشْرًا وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرًا ، وَمَاتَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سِتِّينَ لَيْسَ فِي رَأْسِهِ ، وَلا فِي لِحْيَتِهِ عِشْرُونَ شَعْرَةً بَيْضَاءً "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، إِلا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ إِسْحَاقُ الْخُشُكُ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, says that Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was of medium stature among his people, neither very tall nor short, and had a radiant face and a shining body, neither very white nor very wheat-colored, with combed hair, and his hair was neither very curly nor very straight and loose. He, peace and blessings be upon him, was sent as a Messenger at the age of forty. He, peace and blessings be upon him, stayed in Makkah for ten (10) years and in Madinah for ten years as well, and he, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away when he was sixty years old. There were not even twenty white hairs in his, peace and blessings be upon him, head and beard.
