Description of the continuity of the rule of Quraysh
Hadith 849
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَجِّيُّ ، بِمَكَّةَ سَنَةَ ثَلاثٍ وَثَمَانِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ عَوْذِ اللَّهِ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي صِدِّيقٍ النَّاجِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى بَيْتٍ فِيهِ نَفَرٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ ، فَأَخَذَ بِعِضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : "هَلْ فِي الْبَيْتِ إِلا قُرَشِيٌّ ؟ ، قَالُوا : لا ، إِلا ابْنُ أُخْتٍ لَنَا ، فَقَالَ : ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : إِنَّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ لا يَزَالُ فِي قُرَيْشٍ مَا إِذَا اسْتُرْحِمُوا رَحِمُوا ، وَإِذَا حَكَمُوا عَدَلُوا ، وَإِذَا أَقْسَمُوا أَقْسَطُوا ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ "، لا يُرْوَى عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُعَاذُ بْنُ عَوْذِ اللَّهِ
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood at a house in which there was a group of the Quraysh, so he (peace be upon him) held both doorposts and said: "Is there anyone in the house besides the Quraysh?" They said: "There is no one except one of their nephews." So he (peace be upon him) said: "A people's nephew is also considered among them." Then he said: "This matter will always remain among the Quraysh as long as, if they are asked for mercy, they show mercy, and as long as they judge, they judge with justice. If they distribute, they distribute with justice, and whoever among them does not do this, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people."
