Description of the parents and wives and children of the people of Paradise
Hadith 813
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبَانَ الدَّقِيقِيُّ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ الأَفْطَسِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : "إِذَا دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ الْجَنَّةَ سَأَلَ عَنْ أَبَوَيْهِ وَزَوْجَتِهِ وَوَلَدِهِ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : إِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا دَرَجَتَكَ وَعَمَلَكَ ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، قَدْ عَمِلْتُ لِي وَلَهُمْ ، فَيُؤْمَرُ بِإِلْحَاقِهِمْ ، وَتَلا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ سورة الطور آية 21 "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، إِلا شَرِيكٌ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ ابْنُ غَزْوَانَ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, when a person enters Paradise, he will ask about his parents and his wife and children. It will be said to him: They did not reach your rank and deeds. So he will say: O my Lord! I did deeds for myself and for them as well. Then it will be commanded that they be joined with him." Then Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) recited this verse: «وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ» "And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith, We will join their descendants with them among the believers."
