Description of the clothing of the people of Paradise
Hadith 807
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبِرْتِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُجَالِدٍ ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، "ثِيَابُنَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ نَنْسُجُهَا بِأَيْدِينَا ؟ ، فَضَحِكَ الْقَوْمُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مِمَّ تَضْحَكُونَ ؟ مِنْ جَاهِلٍ يَسْأَلُ عَالِمًا ؟ لا يَا أَعْرَابِيُّ ، وَلَكِنَّهَا تَشَقَّقُ عَنْهَا ثِمَارُ الْجَنَّةِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ ، إِلا ابْنُهُ إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reports: A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Will we make our clothes with our own hands in Paradise? The people began to laugh, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you laughing at an ignorant man who has come to ask a scholar about an issue?" Then he said: "O Bedouin! It is not like that, rather they will be brought, torn from the fruits of Paradise."
